She's Really Cute

But I might be biased.

Go here to see her.

Those pictures satisfy a little bit.

As I was stirred my salty tears into the macaroni and cheese I made for lunch today, I thought about being homesick. It's not like I haven't experienced it before. And it's not like I haven't hopped on a plane and jetted back to Iowa. I did it last August, sans kids, before Levi made his grand entrance.

But, while there, I was homesick for my family. My husband and sweet boys.

I've thought about how no matter where I live, I will be homesick for home. No matter how much family surrounds me. No matter how close I live to forever friends. Because earth is not my home. I'm created with a longing for something more.

Someone even better than family. Someone who will never let me down. Someone who satisfies all my longings.

Not my husband. Or my boys.

Not my best friend since third grade.

Not my mom or dad.

Not my siblings, their spouses and kids.

Even though I love them all dearly, they will at some point let me down. They can't fill me.

Only Jesus can. Only Jesus can handle all my cares.

No matter where I live, Houston, Iowa, Minnesota, Connecticut or Africa. Jesus is my constant. He's always with me. Always listening. Always caring.

She's darling! Congratulations, Aunt Kiki. Your SIL had an incredibly fast labor, it seems.

I read your last post about being homesick and found myself nodding. Yep.

Then I read this post and I really mean it. YEP.

    What a fantastic reminder.

  2. This is a really great thought for me, and something I've been trying to make real in my attitude. I'm working on 1+ year now of not loving where I'm living, feeling out of step with life here, etc, and it is so important for me to realize that there is nowhere on Earth I could live that would truly be home or truly the right fit for me.

    Thanks, Kristy.

  3. She is beautiful. She gives me baby fever and I have an 8 month old. That's not right.

  4. You are mature beyond your years and so right! Although we are up for a mommy-coffee and boys-wrestling date anytime :)

  5. She is BEAUTIFUL! Want to know something funny? We were between Lucy and Eliza when we found out Lucy was a girl. I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE that name. Your family has some seriously good name picker-outers.

When do you get to see her? She is beautiful - and BIG!

  7. What great perspective, Kristy! If it makes you feel better, we didn't go see Maggie on Thursday or make a trip to see the baby yet. We miss you too!

  8. You know "we all" miss "you all" too!

But God is good and I am so thankful for the closeness we share in Him, despite the miles of frustration...How many Christmas cards did I write that said Jesus is our only constant in a world of change - you listened well!

    Couldn't love you more,
    Mom
