Ya'll

I have decided that I have lived in Texas for 7 months now, I can officially start saying ya'll. And typing it. In my posts. Thank you.

My sister in law is here this week which means help for me and getting to run errands by myself. Almost by myself, I take Levi. But, it goes a lot faster with one than with three. It has been wonderful. I've taken her places too, don't worry. We all went (minus Drew) to the Galleria which is probably the most important place in Houston to take someone. And the childrens museum. Good times, I'm sure she is convinced to move here.

I have written some thank you notes. I am beyond late in getting them written. And realized that we have zero addresses. We had them in our palm pilot. Which got misplaced when we moved. And the battery died. We finally charged it yesterday. And realized all our information has been lost. Forever.

I haven't done our Christmas card. I need to write the letter. We do have the picture to send with it. But, we don't have any addresses. So, if you get an email from me...

Question: I bought a dress for my brother in laws wedding. I got it from Ann Taylor for 19.99, normally $188. I know! It's navy blue. It looks like this. But, navy like I said. So, what shoes?! Silvery? Taupe? And the wedding is in Iowa. In January. Where it will be -400 degrees. Am I dumb? Cardigan? Silvery, gray? Help!

And that my friends, is my rambling for today.

  3. I LOVE your idea of gray and silver with the navy; I think that is super sophisticated. And I grew up here but have always refused to say y'all. :)

  4. I have always been partial to the "y'all" than the "ya'll." But that comes from back in my TN days. I also enjoy a good "fixin' to" now and then.

About the dress. You will definitely need something over it as -400 degrees is about right.

  5. I'm also voting for silvery/gray. I have some cute silver pumps you could borrow...if you're size 11. Ha. :) Keep in mind when you're picking out shoes though, we have about 8 inches of snow on the ground, (2 feet where it's drifted,) so maybe you can find some cute boots??? Welcome back to IA!!!

  6. Cute dress! Awesome price!

I vote for black/gray/silvery strappy shoes, or pumps. Or animal print, ha! Or gold! I have a black pashmina if you want to borrow it to cozy into. You will definitely need a coat!

I think I started with the ya'll before I moved back to Houston. It's fun to say I think. But it still feels a bit foreign to me. When I went back to St. Louis for Thanksgiving I was amazed by the midwest accent I hadn't heard when I lived there.

  7. Black patent leather pumps would keep your toes from getting frost bitten :)

  8. I bought a navy Ann Taylor dress last year and had the same problem... I looked forever and finally broke down and bought some at Ann Taylor. They are silver strappy with some very subtle bling. They are perfect, but open toed, so I don't know how they would do in Iowa.
I also bought the perfect little gray and white wrap. Let me know if you want to borrow them.

  9. I am not a fan of black shoes with a navy dress.

  10. I can't believe what you paid for that dress. That is probably the best deal I've ever heard. OK, so I vote for silvery strappy little things. And boots for any time outside. Couldn't you just wear the dress as is when you're inside, and put on a serious coat for when you go out? Maybe I don't have a full appreciation for the kinds of temperatures we're talking about here... Anyway, you'll look great, and you'll have to post pictures of your night out. Just out of curiosity, how would you nurse in that sexy dress? :)
